"6 Hammer 3103 Chairs By Arne Jacobsen For Fritz Hansen"
Six Hammer 3103 teak chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, original edition March 1963 (original vintage label "0363"). The six chairs are in very good condition, with grooved, sheathed steel legs and metal seat shells. Height 78 cm x Width 40 cm x Depth 41 cm. Seat height 42 cm. The Hammer chair by Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971): The 3103 model is indeed part of the family of legendary chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, but it has a distinct identity and is not commonly grouped under the name "Series 7". This chair is in fact better known as the "Hammer Chair" because of the shape of its original backrest, which resembled the handle of a hammer. Design: Although it uses the same revolutionary pressure-molded veneer technique that Arne Jacobsen perfected with the Ant Chair (Model 3100) and the Series 7 (Model 3107), the 3103's shell has a slightly different shape, often perceived as wider or with a slightly more angular backrest than the gentle curve of the 3107. Base: The visual difference also lies in its base. Unlike the four tapered tubular legs of the 3107, the 3103 originally used a single, more complex base, now found only in vintage versions, as it is no longer in production. The 3103 is therefore rarer today, making it a sought-after collector's item. See these 6 Hammer 3103 chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in full screen on Vintage Addict
