"Shahsaven Kilim Rug. Persian. Circa 1880. 164 X 103 Cm"
A very beautiful kilim composed of two Shahsaven Maffrash panels sewn together. Origin: Persia. Originally, Maffrash were the largest carrying bags used by the nomadic populations of Persia and the Caucasus. They also served as prams once the camp was set up. Woven wool on wool. The weaving is a pure marvel; everything is there: extreme fineness, precision, and regularity. The piece is light and supple. Extremely fine and refined work. The colors are very soft and natural. Beautiful depth of field that allows a myriad of stars to shimmer. Late 19th century. Perfect condition. Dimensions: 164 x 103 cm. If you are, like us, impressed by the beauty of such objects, I invite you to contact us directly. Our collection includes more than one hundred Maffrash, complete and fragmented.
