"Silver And Vermeil Sealing Seal, 1818/1890"
A beautiful silver and vermeil seal attributed to Jules Wiese (1818-1890). It depicts two armored soldiers facing off. The seal is shown here as a foreman in the workshop of the goldsmith François Désiré Froment-Meurice. The agate intaglio represents the Pantheon in Rome, built by Agrippa around 27 BC. Destroyed by fire in 80 AD, it was rebuilt during the reign of Hadrian in 118 and 125 AD. It became a Christian church in 609 AD. Note: slight signs of wear. Seal dimensions: 2.4 cm x 1.7 cm. Height: 4.2 cm. Weight: 25.75 grams.
