Japan, late 19th century (Meiji era, 1868-1912).
Polychrome cloisonné and polished enamels on copper.
Deep emerald green background, unusual and striking.
The decoration is refined and varied.
The necks appear to be tied with a cord, holding a drape with rich traditional symbolic motifs (pairs of facing komainu, ribboned balls, peonies, etc.).
The bases feature geometric friezes.
The bodies are enlivened with birds perched on branches or flitting among flowering branches and chrysanthemums. The scenes differ on each vase!
