"Louis Kley Sculpture In Gilt Bronze And Marble, Late 19th Century, Depicting A Child With A Vase"
Gilt bronze and marble sculpture after Louis Kley, signed on the base. Early cast edition from the late 19th or early 20th century. Gilt bronze representation of a young nude boy holding a vase in the Italian style. The vase and base are carved marble. Louis Kley, a French sculptor and student of Justin Marie Lequien, exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. He received a silver medal at the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition. Beautifully executed casting, certainly Parisian work from a reputable workshop, with fine mercury gilding. Good overall condition with slight patina and wear to the gilding. All questions welcome.
