Hippolyte Heizler (1828-1871)
Hippolyte Heizler , was a renowned French animal sculptor , born in Paris on April 19 , 1828 .
He was the son of sculptor Clement-Bernard-Hippolyte and his wife Julie Lecourt .
A student of sculptor Justin Lequien , he made his debut at the Salon in 1846 , and was awarded the "Honorable" Medal in 1852 .
He collaborated anonymously on the decoration of the Louvre, the Tuileries Palace , and the Paris Opera .
From 1846 , he established his studio at 182 Charonne street , in Paris .
In 1868 , his studio was located at 56 , Oberkampf street .
During the Siege of Paris in 1870 , he contracted acute bronchitis and died from it on October 20 , 1871 .
His last works were exhibited at the Salon of 1872 , after his death .
