Bacchanal of Putti – Flemish School
Oil on panel
Period: 1700
Dimensions: 42 × 29 cm (panel) – 55 × 40 cm (with frame)
Provenance: Private collection, Parma
Description: Charming painting depicting a bacchanal of putti, executed on panel and attributable to the Flemish tradition, likely inspired by a model by Rubens or his circle. The scene shows a group of nude children engaged in a joyful dance within a wooded landscape, with lively gestures and small musical instruments recalling the celebrated Baroque bacchic compositions. The soft, warm rendering of the flesh tones, the diffused light, and the circular movement of the composition clearly reveal a Rubens-like influence. The surface bears an antique patina that partly softens the brilliance of the colours; a professional cleaning would restore its full vibrancy. Ideal for enhancing both classic and modern interiors.
