Origin: Venice, Italy
Technique: Oil on canvas
Dimensions: With frame 59 × 49 cm, without frame 45 × 35 cm
Description:
Elegant pair of Venetian views by a foreign school painter, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. These two finely executed canvases capture the lagoon’s light and the poetic atmosphere of La Serenissima with remarkable sensitivity.
One painting depicts the Grand Canal with the majestic Rialto Bridge, animated by gondolas and sailing boats in a lively and harmonious scene. The other offers a panoramic view of the Basilica della Salute and the Basin of St. Mark, bathed in golden light that enhances the splendor of Venetian architecture.
Both works stand out for their refined color palette, delicate atmospheric rendering, and precise perspective, revealing the skilled hand of a painter likely of foreign origin, influenced by the European vedutist tradition.
A pair of highly elegant and charming works, from an important Venetian collection.
