The slanted guard features the emperor's profile on a sandblasted background decorated with military symbols.
It retains its original mother-of-pearl inlay.

The quillon may have been recut.

The Solingen blade is engraved with floral motifs but has lost its original blued finish.
It is in its original length of 83 cm, 2 cm wide at the ricasso.

The total length of the sword is 96 cm.
