Important Louis XVI Style Napoleon III Bronze And Griotte Marble Fireplace Set

A beautiful and substantial Louis XVI/Napoleon III style mantelpiece set in gilt bronze and griotte marble. On either side, a pair of gilt bronze and griotte marble candelabra. The clock features an enamel dial indicating the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals, inscribed Clément Rue Saint Honoré à Paris. The gilt bronze clock, with its fine gold gilding, is surmounted by a laurel wreath and Cupid's quiver, bow, and arrows—all symbols of the Louis XVI style. The set also includes elegant griotte marble candlesticks topped with bronze mounts decorated with pearls and foliage, flanked on either side by bearded male masks. A pair of gilt bronze and griotte marble andirons are decorated with acanthus leaves and goat heads. A very fine and decorative ensemble in excellent condition.
