The saucer is guilloché with a design of concentric grains of rice bordered by a frieze of dots. The central section curves upwards to elevate the cup.
The cup features the same design of wavy lines and a frieze of dots. An oval cartouche is left blank.
It rests on a footed base, lending lightness to the cup.
The architecturally designed handle is adorned with foliage.
The interior of the cup is gilt silver.
Both pieces are hallmarked:
. Minerva 1st standard (pre-1973) for 950/1000 silver
. Maker's mark: CT with a quill and plowshare for Cesar Tonnelier, active between 1845 and 1882.
A very fine set characterized by its preciousness and elegance, enhanced by the fine, extensive guilloché work, the seamless integration of the saucer's center and the cup's foot, and the interior gilt finish.
