Pair Of Kangxi Period Chinese Porcelain Vases

Dimensions: H 28.5 cm x D 9.5 cm.

Pair of baluster-shaped Chinese porcelain vases, decorated with peonies, a symbol of nobility and prosperity in China, in various shades of blue within arched, drawn borders.

The narrow necks are framed on either side by two biscuit porcelain handles in the form of elephant heads, their tusks creating rings. The necks are surmounted by chased gilt bronze mounts.
Their bases are framed with bronze mounts decorated with beaded interlacing, which rest on chased square plinths.

A very fine piece from the 17th century, Kangxi period (1661-1722).
