Antique toi et moi ring in 18k yellow and white gold (750/1000) set with a very fine 1.60-carat Old Mine Cut diamond featuring a beautiful crystal and excellent color and clarity (G VS2), and a 2.997-carat unheated “vivid blue” cushion-cut sapphire. The band is further enhanced with high-quality old-cut diamonds. French craftsmanship from the 1890/1900 period. A signature trace showing the letters SS and N may be attributed either to Maison CHASSIN, known for working with European royalty, or to MAUBOUSSIN. The quality of the mounting and the gem-setting leaves no doubt as to its origin from a major Parisian jeweler.
Comes with a Bellerophon certificate for the sapphire and an LFG certificate for the diamond. Also bears the French owl hallmark for 18k gold.
Ring size: US 7 (resizing possible)
Gross weight: 4.77 grams
Please note that the Bellerophon laboratory assessed the sapphire as unheated and originating from Madagascar. While sapphires were known to exist in Madagascar in the late 19th century, Malagasy sapphires only began to be exported at the end of the 20th century. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that this origin is accurate, as it would be anachronistic for the manufacturing period of this jewel. A Ceylon origin, which represented 80–90% of the sapphire market at the time, is far more probable.
