"Set Of Six Costes Armchairs By Philippe Starck, Circa 1984 "
Set of six "Costes" armchairs designed by Philippe Starck for Aleph Driade, Italy, circa 1984. Tubular steel frame with black lacquered finish, bent plywood shell with black finish, seats and backs upholstered in foam covered with black leather. Designed for Café Costes in Paris, these armchairs exemplify Starck's pursuit of functionality and elegance: only three legs to facilitate cleaning and staff movement, carefully considered ergonomics, and an instantly recognizable design. Later editions featured a hole in the backrest for easier gripping. Manufactured by Aleph Driade, Italy, circa 1984.
