High Stool By Christian Durupt, Méribel, Circa 1960
Artist: Christian Durupt
High stool by Christian Durupt, a cabinetmaker active in the 1960s and a collaborator of Charlotte Perriand in the design of French Alpine resorts. This piece comes from the Méribel ski resort, where many artisans contributed to the furnishings of the mountain residences. The stool features a thick, square seat in solid pine, resting on four slightly tapered legs connected by a circular footrest in black lacquered metal. A robust and functional design, emblematic of mountain furniture from this period. Provenance: Méribel, Savoie, circa 1960.
