On the back of the cardboard backing, there is a label written in Danish (we removed the frame as it was too damaged).

Richard Mortensen (1910-1993) was a Danish artist. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he left his studies in 1932 and went to Berlin where he met members of the Bauhaus, Klee and Kandinsky.
He created his first abstract works. In 1947, he arrived in Paris and joined the group of artists at the Denise René Gallery.
He settled in the suburb of Suresnes, within a community of Danish artists.
In 1964, he returned to Denmark and in 1965 was appointed professor at the Copenhagen School of Fine Arts.
Mortensen's art is characterized by the clarity and simplicity of the forms employed, their dynamic relationships, and the color palette used, which is both delicate and vibrant.
