Minuscula: Dog's Head, "toy" Enamel: Bliston Candy Dish, Circa 1770, With Mirror

A striking little pillbox or candy box, enameled on copper, in the shape of a dog's head or other animal, beautifully painted, with a white enamel background, a hinged brass mount, and a small internal mirror on lid (slightly worn). The back features a bouquet of flowers on a white background.
A classic and documented piece from the British enamel factory of Bliston, circa 1770, period when "toys"—small gifts down to the tiniest—were fashionable.
In good condition, with minimal wear and some minor, typical enamel crazing. Please examine our photos carefully.
