Vietnamese Buddhist Offering Tray In Solid Silver, Circa 1900

Delicate little Vietnamese offering tray in solid silver.

Circular shallow tray with a plain centre and a finely chased and repoussé border of repeated petal or lotus motifs, giving a scalloped outline.

The tray stands on three small triangular feet, so it sits slightly raised on the altar or table.

Diameter 11.5 cm.

Antique Vietnamese work, late 19th–early 20th century.

Unmarked as is usual for this type, but tested as solid silver.

Good condition – light surface scratches to the centre from use, minor knocks and small irregularities to the decorative rim, and general wear consistent with age. No repair.

A charming small altar piece, ideal for use in a Vietnamese or broader Southeast Asian collection of silver, or as a decorative dish for a Buddha or household shrine.
