Sold with invoice/certificate. Very good condition. Léon Schwarz Abrys (1905-1990). A very beautiful oil painting by Abrys, with his characteristic dense and vibrant impasto. This is a view of an old suburb, probably a post-war working-class area: stone houses, weathered roofs, narrow alleyways where light struggles to penetrate. The paint is worked with a palette knife (the artist often created his own tools), almost sculpted: each wall, each shadow, each slate seems to emerge from the canvas. The whole creates an atmosphere that is at once rugged, poetic, and profoundly human.
