Persian decorative ceramic tile with painted glaze. Persia (Iran), late 19th – early 20th century. Ceramic, relief, coloured glaze. The central section depicts a characteristic Persian landscape scene: architecture with domes, gardens, flowing water and a small bridge, all framed within a lobed panel bordered by a cobalt-blue ground with white relief scrolls. The palette is vibrant, featuring turquoise, cobalt and pink accents. The surface shows a dense network of old craquelure, typical of Persian glazed ceramics of this period.
Condition: age-related wear, craquelure and minor glaze abrasions. Old restorations are present on the corners, including fill-ins and discreet retouching aimed at stabilising earlier losses. The reverse is unglazed, with the usual marks of hand-formed clay and firing. Overall, a well-preserved and decorative example of late 19th-century Persian ceramic art, distinguished by its unusually detailed painted landscape.
