October 1879.____________________________________Magnificent studies (recto-verso) of the landscapes of La Côte-Saint-André, executed over the course of a day by the Dutch painter. The view on the recto, dated October 26, 1879, depicts two farmhouses bordering a road along which a passerby is strolling. The view on the verso, dated October 27, 1879, represents the same landscape, this time sketched in the dawn sunlight and showing a cart between the two farmhouses. Size: 15.50 x 23.50 cm, sight size. Jongkind dated both studies in pencil: "Oct 26, 1879" and "Oct 27, 1879," and numbered the verso, lower right, "36-18." Artist's signature stamp (L.1401) on the recto and verso.____________________________________ We enclose a certificate of authenticity issued by the Jongkind Paris committee.
