Henri Léopold Bessagnet, born in Bordeaux (Gironde) on July 11, 1907, a student of Pierre Ferret at the Regional School of Architecture in Bordeaux, admitted to the 2nd class on March 13, 1929, earned a total of 20½ awards, including 1 Third Medal in ornamental drawing, 1st class on July 21, 1931, earning a total of 15 awards, including 1 First Medal and 1 Second Medal in rendered projects; graduated on November 15, 1933 (155th graduating class, A Rural Church in Soule (Basque Country), grade 3, First Prize for Best Diploma in 1934, S.A.D.G. Silver Medal, Architectural Association Prize 1934) (architect in Pessac [in 1949 and 1973], and Bordeaux [between 1951 and 1967]; chief architect of the Public Assistance Design Office; Church of the Holy Family in Talence, Gironde, 1953–59; Cité des Castors in Pessac, Gironde, 1948–50; member of the Association of Students and Alumni of the École nationale et supérieure des Beaux-arts (or Grande Masse de l’École des Beaux-arts) in 1930; member of the S.A.D.G. in 1934; still listed in the 1973 directory; treasurer of the Regional Council of the Order of Architects; died in 1997; National Archives of France, 19920445/126, inventory sheet; master’s thesis in the history of architecture by Marcela Antonia Garcia Martinez, supervised by Nicolas Meynen, available online)
