Important Louis XVI style mantel clock set, Napoleon III period. This harmonious and romantic clock features a very rich decoration of finely chased gilt bronze and putti. The enamel dial with Roman numerals is framed by two putti with a garland of small flowers and foliage. The whole is surmounted by a covered urn. It is accompanied by two six-light candlesticks decorated with putti playing with snuffers, topped with floral cups. The entire set is complete with its original, rarely preserved, beaded giltwood display stands. The clock mechanism is complete, including the pendulum, key, and bell; the movement needs servicing.
