"Normandy Seascape Painting, Boats On The Beach, Signed Jean Levasseur "
Oil on canvas, 35 cm x 27 cm, sold with its original gilt frame (40 cm x 33 cm), signed lower right Jean Levasseur, depicting a Norman seascape. Very good condition. Sold with invoice/certificate. The seascape is bathed in vibrant, almost saline light, with thick impasto applied with a palette knife, giving the boats and reflections an almost tactile presence. Jean Levasseur captures the moment the sea recedes, leaving the hulls to rest in a mosaic of greens, browns, and blues.
