A portrait from the Napoleon III period (dated on the back "1855") depicting a middle-aged man with greying hair and deep blue eyes. A white collar delicately frames his face from beneath his black frock coat. The painting is well executed, with some minor imperfections and craquelures that may require restoration. The original giltwood frame, measuring 71 x 60 cm, shows some loss of paint and gilding.
