Robert Linzeler - Sterling Silver & Mother-of-pearl Fish Cutlery Set, Minerva 950
Artist: Robert Linzeler
Exceptional goldsmithing and engraving is evident in this dinner service; the forks are a unique characteristic of this silversmith. This motif, found on other pieces, testifies to undeniable mastery. The service is distinguished by the elegance of its shimmering mother-of-pearl handles, whose brilliance and delicacy are enhanced by bolsters adorned with majestic mascarons, lending a refined character to the whole. The richly foliate finials add a further touch of sophistication. The silver parts are magnificently engraved with various initials (H, E, etc.), except for the omnipresent letter "M," which could refer to a prestigious family name. (Note: a knife handle has been restored after a probable mother-of-pearl defacement—see photo.) The remarkable density of the silver in the shovels and forks testifies to the quality and solidity of this set. This prestigious service, designed for a table of 12 guests, is a refined and meticulously crafted work of art, perfect for the most distinguished gatherings. Each of the 24 pieces bears the hallmark of the silversmith Robert Linzeler, as well as the Minerva 1st standard (950/1000) hallmark, certifying the authenticity and exceptional quality of this service. Twenty-four pieces. Twelve Place Settings: Length of the 12 forks: 19.3 cm / 7.6 in., 592 g. Length of the 12 knives: 21 cm / 8.27 in., 608 g. Gross weight: 1200 g.
