Large and unique bronze andiron, finely chased and mercury-gilded with matte and burnished gold. It features a rich Louis XVI decoration, including garlands, a trophy, a lion's head, foliage, trelliswork, warrior attributes, a quiver, ribbons, scrolls, bas-relief, etc., as well as a patinated bronze of Falconet's "Love in Silence" or "Threatening Love." Late 18th or early 19th century. Mounted as a lamp (without any modification). Beautiful condition and good provenance (18th-century château).
