A pair of Empire-style candelabra with female musicians, in patinated and gilt bronze. A patinated bronze woman plays the hurdy-gurdy on a gilt-bronze base inscribed "et l'espoir" (and hope). Above are three branches, the central one ending in a pineapple, the other two forming candle arms. The second candelabra, of the same model, shows the woman holding a box containing a marmot; the base is inscribed "et ma marmotte" (and my marmot). Both are in excellent condition. Period: early 19th century. Dimensions: Height 53cm, Width 22cm
A similar pair is on display at the Georges Sand Museum in La Charte sur Loire.
