Felipe Maso de Falp was a Catalan painter born in Barcelona and died in Pau, France.
He studied law and architecture in Madrid before living in France from 1872 to 1885, where he was a student of the painter Léon Bonnat.
Initially a history painter, Felipe Maso presented A Procession of Saint Bartholomew (1884, Maricel Museum) at the 1884 Paris Salon, where it won an award and is considered a foundational work of the Sitges school of luminism.
Married to a Russian princess in 1889, he resided in the south of France, between Sitges, San Remo, Monte Carlo, and Lourdes.
