"Provençal Bread Box In Walnut, Dating From The 18th Century "
An elegant 18th-century Provençal walnut bread box. It rests on a scrolled base on the front, connected by a shaped crossbar finely carved with a leaf scroll and an urn. The central section is composed of turned balusters, with the door at its center, upon which a floral urn is carved. The upper shaped crossbar is also adorned with a delicate and beautiful carving of a flower and an urn. The whole is topped with a finial, lending it a sense of lightness. A quality piece in good condition, this decorative and traditional object is as much a work of folk art as it is a practical item.
