Artist: Gustave Serrurier Bovy (1858-1910)
Art Nouveau low sideboard, circa 1900 – attributed to Gustave Serrurier-Bovy.
Elegant Art Nouveau period low sideboard, in solid oak, opening with three drawers and a central paneled door adorned with a rosette of bone/ivory inlays. Both sides feature open shelves in the Arts & Crafts style.
The piece displays all the hallmarks of Gustave Serrurier-Bovy's work: long, tapered brass bars punctuated with openwork cross rosettes, ring handles on four-lobed plates, original hardware, simple vertical uprights, a clean rectangular structure, and panels assembled with uprights and rails.
The internal construction confirms high-quality craftsmanship: dovetail joints, solid oak panels and back, original cleats for securing the top, and no structural restoration. It is in very good overall condition with a consistent antique patina.
