"Evening Atmosphere On The Venetian Lagoon By Karl Heilmayer (1829-1908)"
This romantic seascape of the Venetian lagoon by moonlight was painted in 1858 by the renowned German marine painter Karl Heilmayer (1829–Munich–1908). After studying at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, he furthered his training independently, undertaking study trips to Bavaria, Tyrol, Italy, and later to France, Belgium, and northern Germany. It was from these travels that he drew most of his marine subjects. His canvases primarily depict hazy mists and moonlit nights, with a predilection for the romantic figures and motifs of the countries he visited. He exhibited frequently in Munich, Berlin, Dresden, and Vienna. His works are held in the municipal galleries of Munich, Bamberg, Chemnitz, Linz, and Mainz.
