Édouard Ducros, a painter born in Aix-en-Provence in 1856 and who died in the same city in 1936, was a student of Julien Gustave Gagliardini and Louis Gautier. He exhibited in various salons, including the Paris Salon and the Salon in Lyon, and received an honorary diploma in Aix and medals in Versailles and Lyon. A Post-Impressionist painter, he was the founder of the Society of Friends of the Arts of Aix-en-Provence. His works are held in the museums of Aix, Montpellier, Digne, and Béziers. His painting, The Grand Canal of Martigues, was acquired by the City of Paris.
