Elegant round table in the French Empire style, standing on three finely cast and chiseled gilt bronze swans — an iconic imperial motif symbolizing grace and majesty.
The base is veneered in rich mahogany, decorated with beautifully chased and gilded bronze mounts including lion’s paw feet, rosettes, and acanthus leaf friezes.
The detailed modeling of the swans, with delicately feathered wings and proud necks, supports a circular top in green-veined marble (likely Verde des Alpes), bordered by a gilt bronze rim.
A shaped mahogany stretcher with pierced gallery adds both balance and decorative refinement.
The contrast between the warm mahogany and the golden bronze evokes the splendor of the Napoleonic era.
This model follows the celebrated designs of Jacob-Desmalter and Percier & Fontaine (circa 1805–1810), revived under Napoleon III and reproduced around the turn of the 20th century by Parisian cabinetmakers.
French work, circa 1890–1910.
Excellent condition, the gilding well preserved, marble top intact.
Materials: mahogany veneer, gilt and chiseled bronze, green marble top.
