Spain first half of 17th cty
Large flared and hollow bowl decorated with a large bird in burnished copper on an ivory ground, with large staples on the reverse and some enamel chips in the central part of the base. I have not cleaned the bowl in order to preserve its beautiful patina acquired over several centuries.
The luster has nevertheless retained all its brilliance, and the bowl, as is, presents superb decorative and historical interest.
These ceramics, once attributed to the workshops of Manises, are now frequently reattributed to manufacturers in Valencia. In any case, one can see an influence of Persian ceramic techniques, transmitted in particular during the Arab invasions of Southern Europe and Spain.
