"Paul-auguste Masui (1888-1981) - Departure For Fishing"
Etching and aquatint dating from 1930, listed in Alain Viray's catalogue raisonné of the engraved work "Paul-Auguste Masui, Engravings, Pastels" as "Departure for Fishing," G318, page 166. Edition of only 15 prints. Signed in the plate and lower right, unnumbered. Dimensions: 42 cm high x 50 cm wide with frame. 28 cm x 39 cm for the plate mark. In very good condition. Paul-Auguste Masui made his first trip to Brittany, to the Crozon peninsula, to Camaret, in 1925, and it was love at first sight; his period of Breton production would extend until the end of the 1930s. Retrospective at the Pont-Aven Museum in 2007.
