Rachel-Lucy Hautot studied under Laurent Marqueste at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and won the Prix de Tunisie in 1912. Her stay in North Africa deeply influenced her work, inspiring these refined Orientalist compositions, remarkable for their serene expression and exquisite craftsmanship.
