Transition Style Table Attributed To Paul Sormani, 19th Century

A Transition-style cabinet, attributed to Paul Sormani, dating from the 19th century. Rectangular in shape, it is veneered in rosewood, amaranth, and violet wood, and adorned with marquetry of elegant, sinuous rosettes. Superb ornamentation of finely chased gilt bronze mounts: ram's heads at the corners, handles in the form of foliate garlands, astragal, and bronze sabots on original casters. The shaped top features delicate and refined marquetry. Inspired by the designs of Oeben and Leleu, this piece testifies to the exceptional skill of Paul Sormani, a great 19th-century cabinetmaker. Dimensions: Length 60 cm — Depth 48 cm — Height 74 cm. In superb condition.
