Glazed Terracotta Tile Danilo Cartei (signa 1920-2002) - Representing Lion 60 X40 Cm
Artist: Danilo Cartei
GLAZED TERRACOTTA BAS-RELIEF LION SIGNED BY DANILO CARTEI, 1970s/1980s, SIGNA, perfect condition. Size: 60 x 40 cm. Danilo Cartei (Signa, May 12, 1920 – December 7, 2002) was an Italian painter.
Gifted with natural talent, under the tutelage of Giuseppe Santelli and following the example of his brother Alvaro, Danilo displayed great drawing skills from a very young age, leading him to be considered something of a child prodigy.
A portrait of the Duce in a newspaper in 1933 earned him a photo with a dedication from Mussolini himself, but his main passion was drawing animals of all kinds, which he reproduced with extreme precision.
His work was, in fact, almost entirely dedicated to the reproduction of animals in drawings and ceramics.
