Occitanie: Saint-bertrand-de-comminges, Watercolor By Jean Laforgue
Artist: Jean Laforgue
In Haute-Garonne, in Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, on Rue de la Porte, the Bridault Tower, depicted here by Jean Laforgue around 1930, is still preserved and now houses the post office. (See contemporary photograph.)
The 15th/17th-century "Bridault" house, with its hexagonal stair tower built at the beginning of the Renaissance, is the central element of this very luminous watercolor.
At the foot of the tower, a peasant and his animals are walking down the street.
Signed lower left and located on the back, framer's label: Montanelli R in Bône.
Very fine period frame in molded giltwood with a wide cyma recta and elegant mat.
Height 74 cm frame and 45 cm watercolor – width frame 63 cm and watercolor 36 cm
Very good condition
