"Landscape Of Anjou By Georges Vaslin, Dated 1966"
Oil on canvas depicting a countryside landscape, signed lower right by Georges Vaslin. Beautiful perspective and depth characterize this luminous painting, where the shadows of the trees are skillfully rendered. Georges Vaslin (1921-2002) was a French painter of the Anjou School. Born in 1921 in Montjean-sur-Loire (Maine-et-Loire, Anjou) and died in 2002, he is considered a 20th-century Post-Impressionist painter. A self-taught artist, his work focuses primarily on landscapes (particularly the banks of the Loire and the Anjou region), port scenes (such as Le Guilvinec or Breton beaches), lively market scenes (Market in Charente), and views of travel destinations (such as the Canary Islands). He worked mainly in oil on canvas, but also in watercolor and ink on panel. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Anjou, notably in Angers. A tribute was paid to him in his hometown for the centenary of his birth in 2021. His works are regularly auctioned, attesting to their marketability. The Angers Museum of Fine Arts also holds some of his paintings. Georges Vaslin is therefore a renowned regional painter, whose luminous and colorful work is rooted in the Post-Impressionist tradition. Good condition.
