Baoulé culture, Ivory Coast
First half of the 20th century
Wood
H: 16; W: 8.5 cm
Stylized bird head with a pointed beak, punctuated with incised decoration. The bird is a particularly symbolic figure among the Baoulé people: associated with wisdom, it is both the intermediary between the world of the ancestors and that of the living.
