Empire Style Console/side Table With Swan-neck Top In Flamed Mahogany, 19th Century
Magnificent 19th-century flamed mahogany console/side table with a swan-neck design. Topped with a 2 cm thick black marble slab veined with white (minor chips on the rim). This very elegant side table features a large drawer in the molding, which can be locked. The key is present and works for both the drawer and the doors. Two doors on the front open to reveal a large storage space (distinguishing it from a simple console). It rests on a magnificent base carved in the form of swans and stylized scrolls. The elegant, curvilinear motifs are emblematic of this style. The richly carved and openwork lower rail, or apron, with its vegetal motifs and scrolls, adds a significant decorative touch. An elegant and beautifully crafted piece, combining the richness of mahogany and marble with the delicate swan-neck carvings, typical of the evolution of French furniture after the Empire period.
