"Auguste Heiligenstein, Polychrome Ceramic Bottle Enhanced With Gold, Circa 1925-1930"
A flat-bottomed bottle with a navy blue glazed ceramic stopper, richly embellished with gold on each side, depicting a stylized pheasant perched on a branch. The branch itself is adorned with flowers. The bottle is signed under the square base with the monogram of the artist AH Auguste Heiligenstein (1891-1976), trained at the Legras and Bacarrat crystalworks. He distinguished himself through his expertise in translucent and polychrome enamels, as well as in gilded motifs fired in the kiln. An emblematic figure of Art Deco, he established his own business in 1923. That same year, he married Odette Chatrousse (1896-1989), a student of Mayodon, who introduced him to ceramics. This rare bottle is characteristic of the particularly delicate creations he produced during this period.
