Barber-shaped Secretary, Early 19th Century

A rare and superb Empire-style mahogany and mahogany veneer barber's desk. Ingeniously designed, it combines a sliding black marble top with a retractable, pivoting mirror. On each side is a small drawer for shaving essentials. The leather-lined drop-front opens to reveal a writing surface above three storage drawers. Original key and locks in working order. Very good condition. Early 19th century.
