A red clay lamp from Vallauris, decorated with two figures facing each other: one in profile in front of a tree, the other behind it. Signed Jean Marais on both sides and under the base. It features a large, sail-shaped lampshade decorated with a scene from Beauty and the Beast and signed on one side. Lamp base dimensions: Height: 57 cm – Width: 32 cm – Base diameter: 19 cm. The lamp is in very good condition. *Jean Marais (1913, Cherbourg – 1998, Cannes) Actor, director, writer, painter, sculptor, and potter in Vallauris in the 1970s, where he opened his own art gallery on the French Riviera.
