Small blackened wood coffee table from the Napoleon III period. Richly decorated with brass rods and equipped with a gilt bronze base. It is topped with a recessed black Belgian marble. The apron opens with a drawer, and two glass-bottomed trays at the bottom. It bears the plaque of the house ALPH. GIROUX, 43 boulevard des Capucines – Papeterie, Fantaisies. Usual restoration carried out in our workshop, finished with French polish. Very good condition. *Alphonse Giroux et Cie, famous tabletterie and curiosities store located in Paris, 7 rue du Coq-Saint-Honoré, whose activity extended from the Consulate to the end of the Second Empire. This company was created by François-Simon-Alphonse, then managed from 1838 by his two sons Alphonse-Gustave (1810-1886) and André (1801-1879). In 1857, A. Giroux moved his shop to 43, boulevard des Capucines and operated there until 1867, when he sold his house and his sign to his cousin Ferdinand Duvinage and Harinkouck.
