Chinese vermeil (gilt silver) belt buckle - China, 1854-1925. Made of 900/1000 silver with gilt plating. The belt buckles feature an openwork design of auspicious ideograms and dragons within bamboo foliage. They bear the silver certification mark "90" and the maker's mark "WH". The WH mark is that of Wang Hing & Company, active between 1854 and 1925 in Shanghai, as well as at Zetland House, 10 Queen's Road in Hong Kong and 1 Sai Sing Street in Canton (Guangzhou). Each buckle measures 4.7cm x 6.5cm. Total weight 55g.
