Port Of Cologne 1905
Artist: Signature à Déchiffrer
This work depicts the port of Cologne at the beginning of the 20th century, a period of intense commercial activity on the Rhine. In the foreground, a large three-masted sailing ship occupies the right side of the composition, moored among steamships and tugboats. In the background, the bustling port, the quays, industrial buildings, and the hazy silhouette of the city are visible under a clear, slightly cloudy sky. The soft, diffused light suggests a late afternoon atmosphere. The painting is dated 1905 in the lower right corner and signed (signature to be deciphered).
Note two small tears in the upper part of the canvas (see photo).
