Large Qing Period Spinach Green Jade Bowl On Gilt Bronze Stand By Henri Picard
Magnificent large Qing period spinach green jade bowl on a later gilt bronze stand by Henri Picard. The creation of a sculptural bowl of exceptional form and scale from this precious and prized stone is a testament to the skill of a master lapidary. A deep dark green, reacting wonderfully to light, it is a masterpiece of design and refinement. Later mounted on a beautifully designed and richly gilded triform bronze stand by master bronzier, chaser, and gilder Henri Picard, stamped on the feet. The eminent founder and gilder Henri Picard worked in Paris from 1831 to 1884, notably for Emperor Napoleon III. The firm remained in business until about 1890. Renowned for the quality of his production, Henri Picard supplied many important clients, notably with fittings and cutlery for the "small apartments" of Emperor Napoleon III at the Louvre.
